Why do companies throw away/recycle excellent computers vs sell them to people who could buy and use

My job just got us some new computers but the ones we had were still great and pretty new. They are going to recycle them. Why don't they sell them to the public? I would love to buy one but I don't know how to ask. Does anyone know the logic behind this? I would guess to protect the privacy of their information, but they could easily delete it before they sold them.

Why do companies throw away/recycle excellent computers vs sell them to people who could buy and use them?free antivirus

I work in one of these e waste collection center ( www.arozodoko.com) is not really the companies but the the guys that are working in the IT department they had to notified to the company when the computers are becoming not obsolete "As you said a lot of these computers are just in great working conditions" but just plain old and as you know the computer market just keep evolutions everyday

So since all these guys make good money and they're the ones responsible for all computer equipment they just one to get rid of it

So actually the first two answers are very correct .you would not believe the stuff we get from them just because they do not want deal with it (not working mostly, when actually the computer may have just a simple virus,or a bad ram memory, bad power supply. bad CD drive, etc. etc.)

These guys only have to report that these computers have been dispose properly (to the EPA and their company) so ask to your IT guy maybe you can even get them for free I know some people have for sure but don't expect they put OS they may charge you for it . A lot of people charge around $150 just for OS XP
