What do I need to connect 2 computers together?

I have 3 computers in my home, what I need to do is connect 2 of the three together on a network. Do I need to a 5 port hub, or do I need more to connect the 2 of them togther. One for my room and the other for the kids room.

If only 2 computers are needed to be connected, then all you need is LAN cards (Local Area Network) cards in both of them, and a network cable with appropriate connectors (RJ-45) at their ends to connect them. Its to be noted that the network cable has to be configured as a "cross-over cable".

When you go for more than 2 computers, then you need a switch or a hub to connect them.

If you wish to avoid cabbles, get Wireless LAN cards for your computers, and configure them on Ad-Hoc mode.

u can also purchase a HUB or switch !!! but i think no need coz u want to connect only 02 comp's.

For connecting 02 comp's u can use LAN card's installed at both the system which u want to connect with each other... connect them with a patch cable with same class ip %26 put them in same workgroup so that u will be able to share the DATA !!!

THATS IT !!!! ALL THE BEST go ahead...
One simple little crossover cable go to any computer store and you should be able to buy one for under $10
You can easily set up a wireless network which will connect all three computers and is good to use especially if all three computers are using different operating systems. First of all, it will be good if your internet source is high-speed with a cable modem. You will also need a router which will be hooked to your modem and the computer to which your modem is attached. You will now need two wireless PCI adapters with which to connect the second and third computers. I like the ones made by Linksys (by the way, I like the router also made by Linksys. This does not have to be wireless as you can simply connect the ethernet wires to your computer and modem.) The reason I recommend the wireless PCI cards is you will not need any cumbersome wires and this will give you the ability to have the second and third computers anywhere with about a 100 ft range. (more on this in a second) Please note that the cards for the desktop are different from the cards used in a laptop, so read everything carefully at the store BEFORE you take them home. You simpy hook up your router to the computer which contains the modem, which will be your hub, install your PCI cards onto the motherboard inside of your other two computers. Most newer computers come with a wizard which helps you to set up your home network but if not, the Linksys router has a button on it which will assist in the setup (Secure Easy Setuop). If you live in a larger than average size home or have the computers setup kind of far from the hub, you may have to install a "booster" to help with the signal... Good luck
a hub would be your easiest option. all you need is one hub and a long lengths of network cable running from each computer to the hub, and you also have to set up networks on the computer. by going through network connections, set up a new home or office connection, and the wizard will take you through the rest (that is with windows) not sure what os you have on your computer
