You sound like a very industrious young person. My brother started a business just like you are planning around 1993. In the beginning he custom computers (286, 386, 486 processors) and had approximately $600-$800 profit per box.

As time and technology advanced, and Dell, IBM, HP, etc. etc. gobbled up market share, the profit margins on his custom boxes declined. Now days, you have to provide 24/7 technical support, 3 year warranties, all for roughly $100 a unit. Over the 3 years you must provide the warranty, and assuming zero warrantied parts replacement (not including your labor time) are you willing to work what you will make in this venture. FYI-My brother is still in biz and he has added networking to his list of offerings. With the frequent upgrades, service calls for older units, commercial accounts that pay for his time to keep their small biz networks up and running, he does make a decent living.

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to discourage you, but please look into this more before you attempt to enter this venture. Once you have 50-100 of them out there and decide you don't want to do it anymore, your still stuck with the support and warranty work you promised when you sold the units.

Good luck to you and if you go forward I hope you become the next Dell and run a couple of those big boys right of the biz!
