Okay. The Speedstream 5100 is the DSL modem. On the back is a telephone line connection and an ethernet connection. Does the ethernet cable from it go to your computer or to another box (this would be a router)? If it goes to your computer, you need a router.

all you need is a router for that... or you can buy a modem router so that u can hook up the 2 computers that you've got.. infact, you can hook it up the other computer wirelessly if you like.. isnt cool?? u have a modem right?? so just buy a router for so that u can use the 2 computers on the same network...

You just need a router, wireless or wired, depending on how you want to set it up. A wired network is much faster, but a wireless network is convenient because you don't have to worry about ethernet cables.
