How can I split an ethernet connection to two different computers?

I work in an office with one ethernet jack. However, I have two computers. One is wireless but is too far from the router to pick up a signal. Right now I'm unplugging the cable from the wall to use each computer, is there an easier way to do this? Thanks

Buy a small network switch, they generally start at 4 ports. A router may disrupt the network, so don't go for that.

A 4 port ethernet hub or switch will do the trick. Plug both your computers into the hub using standard patch cables. Plug the hub into your existing wall jack using a crossover cable. A standard patch cable running from the switch to the wall (which goes to another switch/router/hub) will not work, and you'll be left scratching your head wondering why.

Crossover cables look identical to the standard patch cables, except they're wired a little differently. They're meant to connect a computer directly to another computer (no hub, switch, or router), or a switch to another switch. Generally, crossover cables are orange, but this may not necessarily be true all the time.

the best approach is to ask your tech dept to run a new wire to you. However if that is not an option get a simple hub and two patch cables that is the next easiest way.
Put a router between the wall socket and the 2 computers but you will also have to get your Network admin to set it up for you.
Just get a two port hub.

Your bestbuy 5 port switch should do the trick.
A crossover cable would be cheapest, but a lot more involved.
